I am a Johnny-come-lately... just discovered this six-part series of videos which were uploaded back in January. Intended to step into the sadly, mostly untapped potential of NASA's publicity machine, utilising Carl Sagan's audio books and footage from various documentaries, news media and NASA's own material, the editing really is superb. Maybe if NASA's real life PR was given this much care and attention and was so inspirational, the public wouldn't be so apathetic toward space travel and discovery.

NASA are looking for a T-shirt design "commemorating the final space shuttle mission and the program's contributions to exploration".

The prizes aren't exactly... stellar... but worth entering if you can come up with something in 12 days. And the good news is, it's open to all nations.

If anyone's considering learning Z-Brush and looking for somewhere to start, you can't get much better than these two training videos from 3DBuzz. Unlike a lot of video tutorials that might just have one person talking slightly nervously to themselves, these take the form of two guys having a conversation as one explains the interface to the other. The first video covers the basic interface and 2.5-D drawing, while the second video gets down to the 3-D sculpting.

Just a day now before I head off to San Diego and ComicCon, baby! My nametag thingy will have "Moofunk" written on it (from the name of my website), so if anyone else is there and happens to see a Moofunk, say hi! :)

Also, I haven't written a journal for a long while, so thanks to everyone who's added my work to their faves, chosen to watch me, or taken the time to comment. It's always very much appreciated.

Take care and keep watching the skis, John.

I never wanted to blog about day to day things, but I'd been thinking for a while that it'd be nice to have somewhere to post the bits and pieces of arty stuff I'm working on. My website and my dA page are mostly reserved for finished pieces (aside from the scraps page), so I've set up a design journal for works in progress... it's just an online scrap book really, with a bit of commentary.

Hopefully fellow C4Ders or BSG fans (since I'll be posting tons of BSG stuff now the series is back - yay!) will find the odd thing of interest. :p

That sounds really weird.

"University graduate"... that sounds weird as well.

After all these years of education, I'm so used to knowing where I need to be next and having a bunch of dates bobbing about in my mind. Deadlines, holidays, weekends. There was always some benchmark, something to get ready for. Now it's all so up in the air. I feel a bit lost.

Still, I have a bit of freelance work (hence the title), so that'll give me something to be getting on with soon. In the meantime, I'm going to continue adding work to my brand spanking new sexay website

Good luck to you all, my friends. :)
